About Transport Canada AME Licensing

Transport Canada issues three categories of Aircraft Maintenance Engineer licences: License M (Airframe & Powerplant), License E (Electronics), and License S (Structures). Each licence requires candidates to pass a series of written examinations based on the TP14038E study and reference guide, accumulate supervised practical experience, and successfully complete an oral and practical examination administered by a Transport Canada inspector.

The written examinations cover five core domains: Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), Standards (including Standard 571 — Maintenance and Standard 573 — Airworthiness Directives), Airframe structures and systems, Powerplant theory and operation, and Electrical fundamentals. Each domain requires focused study using the appropriate reference materials recommended in the TP14038E syllabus.

Sky Licence is designed to complement your training program by providing AI-powered practice questions, adaptive difficulty that adjusts to your knowledge level, and an AI Tutor that explains complex topics in plain language. Whether you are enrolled at Sault College, BCIT, NAIT, Canadore, or any other Transport Canada-approved training organization — or studying independently — our platform helps you target your weak areas and build exam confidence through deliberate practice.
